Charles Wrestling's Theory Of Evolution

Charles Darwin's theory of Evolution states that the strongest, safest and most adapted creatures survive, live on and continue life in its cycle. Pro Wrestling and the fighting styles used by the wrestlers are just the same.

Back in the day wrestling was slow, psychological and lacked a lot of spectacle. When certain wrestlers began to speed up the pace, connect with flashier moves and cut more flamboyant promos, the rest of the pack had to follow. They had to adapt and survive. The old timers got boring and were somewhat forgotten.

In order to wow the crowds dangerous moves such as the Piledriver and the DDT became common place, gradually increasing the risks of being a grappler. To stay on top of things the US grabbed similar styles from Japan and Mexico and slowly over the years high flying and hardcore violence prevailed.

Just like the giraffe with the long neck, in the second half of the 90's ECW had an advantage over the rest of North America, their style was brash, edgy and well... extreme. Never before on US soil had such a concoction of bad ass wrestling taken place.

Although their were millions of other giraffes with short necks, the population began to die out and only a small collection of giraffes that had developed large brains survived. This particular herd called themselves the WWF back then and late one night instead of mating with the ECW herd and stretching their necks, decided to climb on top of each other in a big tower of giraffes and steal all of ECW's food. The WWF now had all of ECW's food and because ECW's brains hadn't evolved they went out of business and the WWF went down in history as having one of the best era's in wrestling, that of the attitude!

In the grand scheme of things right now I see wrestling being a brain short of a giraffe with a long neck? What I mean is, the style on WWE television is lacking a label. What is it? Often it's slow and boring, sometimes its fast and dangerous, other times it has glimmers of hardcore, but none of these branches have any real leaves. Each fan likes their own genre of wrestling, but none of the genres right now are particularly cutting edge or inspiring.

There are two options right now. Steal what UFC is doing but make it less painful or take notes from the likes of TNA's Samoa Joe or the general stronger style of Indy promotion ROH, because if something unique doesn't come a long soon I might just fall the hell asleep, or better yet watch UFC or ROH instead. WWE are lucky enough to own the world so even if fans did look away they'd have something up their sleeves.

WWE is the human race of wrestling. Humans don't evolve anymore because we got so brainy we take care of life threating problems with technology. There a fat people, thin people, small people, tall people, brainy people, dumb people and prisoners. None of these types of people evolve and dominate the world because for instance, small people buy their out of reach berries from the store and tall people don't need to hide from lions in the grass because they are in cages.

Unfortunately WWE don't need to be perfect because they have measures in place. I'm praying on killer aliens.
